bhindi masala for chapathi ingredients

  • 20 Bhindi or ladies finger or okra or bendakaya
  • 1 big or 2 medium onions
  • 1 big tomato
  • 6 cloves
  • 1 dhagd phool
  • 6 pods of garlic
  • 2 inches cinnamon stick
  • 1tbsp coriander seeds
  • ½ tbsp. jeera or cumin seeds
  • 1 ½ tbsp. of salt
  • 1/4th of turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp. of chili powder
  • 2 tbsps. of curd
  • 1 red chilly
  • 4 tbsps. of oil
  • 1/4th glass of water

how to make bhindi sabzi recipe with step by step photos

  1. Wash all bhindi thoroughly under running water.
  2. Chop all lady’s fingers into 1-inch pieces. While chopping bhindi take care of worms, usually in some bhindis worms will be there.
  3. Peel the skin of onion and chop them into cubes.
  4. Chop tomato into slices and keep them aside.
  5. To prepare bhindi masala, take a cooker add 2 tbsps. of oil, then add ½ tbsp. of jeera, 1 tbsp. of coriander seeds, 1 dhagad phool and fry for few seconds.

  6. Add chopped onions, 1 red chili, salt and garlic pods and fry all the ingredients until onions gets translucent (fry them on medium flame and avoid burning of masala).

  7. Add tomato and fry for another 3 minutes or until tomato gets smashed. Take all the masala into plate and cool the masala.

  8. Take a mixi jar and grind all the ingredients into fine masala paste.
  9. Take a same cooker or kadai add another 2 tbsps. of oil, then add chopped lady’s fingers and chili powder, turmeric powder and fry for 3 minutes.

  10. Now add curd and fry for one minute.

  11. Now add masala paste and fry another 3 minutes and add 1/4th glass of water and stir once.

  12. After water started boiled keep cooker lid and cook for 3 whistles.

  13. After cooker gets cooled, remove the lid and check if any water is left then fry the curry until water evaporates and oil oozes out from the curry.
  14. Switch off the flame and transfer into serving bowl.
