mushroom-masala has very rich texture & awesome taste. Cashews nuts will give creamy & rich texture to the mushroom gravy recipe. This mushroom masala is my most favorite curry. how to make mushroom gravy

  1. Wash and chop the mushrooms (some times i will remove the lower part of mushrooms,if you want you can remove the lower part or you can prepare mushroom curry along with them).
  2. Chop the onions into medium size pieces.
  3. Heat a mini pressure cooker or kadai, add ghee or butter.
  4. after ghee or butter melts, then add mushrooms and cashew nuts.
  5. fry them until you get little golden color.
  6. Now remove them to a plate and keep aside.
  7. in a mixy jar or blender add onions, cashew nuts, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, poppy seeds, shahjeera, ginger, garlic & make them into fine paste by adding small amount of water.
  8. make sure the gravy should be fine paste without any masala particles.
  9. Now in the same kadai / pressure cooker add butter
  10. after butter melts add cinnamon stick, cloves & fry for few seconds.
  11. Now add above gravy, turmeric powder, salt, chilly powder and fry until it oozes out oil from its surrounding.
  12. Now add fried mushrooms and cashews and fry for 1 min.
  13. Add water and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
  14. Now rich and delicious mushroom curry is ready to enjoy with poori or rice or naan or chapati or roti.

  • Mushrooms  – 300 grams
  • Chilly powder – 1 ½ tbsp
  • Ginger and garlic paste – 1 tbsp
  • Onions – 2- 3 medium
  • Cashew nuts – 20 (some for gravy and some for curry)
  • Cloves – 4
  • Cardamom – 2 pods
  • Cinnamon stick – 2 inches
  • Shahjeera – ½ tbsp
  • Cumin seeds – ½ tbsp
  • Coriander seeds – ½ tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4th tbsp
  • Poppy seeds – ½ tbsp
  • Salt – 1 ½ tbsp (as per your taste)
  • Butter or ghee – 4 tbsp
  • Water – 1/4th glass (in pressure cooker) or more than ½ glass (in kadai)

    • If you prepare this mushroom gravy curry in kadai then you need more quantity of water (more than ½ glass).
