mawa with step by step photos. khoya recipe from stratch.  i am showing homemade khoya or mawa recipe. i am using coconut in the mawa to enhance the taste of mawa. khoya has two step processes. We can prepare this kova sweet during festivals. Kids will enjoy this mawa recipe so much. we can use this mawa into so many indian dishes such as sweets like carrot halwa and so on.

this khoya recipe has a unique taste. mawa sweet has bit long process but worth it. Trust me every one will enjoys this sweet. Whenever coconut is available at my home then I will opt this coconut mawa sweet because we will get two sweets at the same time coconut ladoos and mawa sweet.

coconut mawa

When I prepare this mawa sweet to attract my kid some times I will prepare in diamond shape like barfi & some time laddo shape.  Keep it in freez and have it, kova taste will be enhanced. Coconut mawa has very few ingredients but taste is awesome. It has long process but the process is easy, every one can prepare this khoya sweet.

To make the process easier I kept the coconut pieces in mixy jar instead of grating. If you have time then you can go head for grating the coconut else you can keep in mixy jar (taste will be the same). Surely every one will loves this mawa sweet.

how to make mawa

  1. in a mixy jar add coconut pieces & cardamom seeds and make them into powder.
  2. Heat a kadai, add sugar and water and boil the syrup.
  3. Stir until you get one thread consistency.
  4. Add grated coconut and ghee & fry for 6 – 7 min.
  5. Now transfer into a plate & keep it aside.
  6. Now boil the milk in the same pan.
  7. And after milk get boiled, stir the milk (in between) until milk quantity is reduced 1/4th & now add sugar and stir once again.
  8. After sugar is dissolved add coconut mixture & fry for 1 – 2 min & switch off the falme.
  9. Now make the mawa into desired shapes like peda / ladoo etc.

Ingredients used in khoya or mawa recipe

  • Milk – 500 ml
  • Sugar – 8 tbsp for mawa & 10 tbsp for coconut mixutre
  • Coconut – ½ shell of big size coconut
  • Sugar –  ½ cup
  • water
  • Cardamom – 2 pods
  • Ghee – 1 ½  tbsp
