This time I am showing very simple and quick version of sakkarai pongal. this sakkarai pongal recipe with milk and coconut pieces which has really yummy taste.

sakkarai pongal or chakkara pongal recipe

  1. Wash and pressure cook the rice & moong dal for 3 whisltes.
  2. Heat a kadai & add milk.
  3. When milk comes to boil add rice & moong dal and stir nicely.
  4. Boil it for few min and add dry fruits and coconut pieces & stir once.
  5. Cook until the milk’s quantity is reduced to ½ quantity.
  6. Now add sugar and elachi and boil it until sugar is dissolved completely.
  7. Add ghee and boil it for 2-3 minutes.
  8. Now switch off the flame and have the sweet pongal treat.
  9. Enjoy this delicious and yummy taste of chakkara pongal sweet.

  • Moong dal or pesarapappu  – 60 grams
  • Sugar – 150 grams (as per your taste)
  • Dry fruits – You can add any dry fruits
  • Coconut pieces  – 25 small pieces

  • Ghee  – 1 ½ tbsp
  • Elachi  – 2 pods
